September 30 - October 4

REPEATING PATTERN
UNIT OF INQUIRY
We are learning how to write procedural text (how-to writing) to teach others about our systems. We are learning how to be a scientist. Scientists record information and scientific drawings in a journal.

MATH
GROWING PATTERN
We are learning how to represent addition and subtraction number stories. We are learning the language to describe shapes and patterns.

LITERACY
Remember to send in journal entries, lists, invitations, inspirational notes, reminders, etc. We are linking letters to sounds in writing and learning how to reread for information in reading.

SEPT 16 - 20

UNIT OF INQUIRY
We have set up many classroom systems including jobs, reading workshop routines, morning meeting, labeling the room, and writing workshop. We are focusing on how choices impact the success of systems, how we create systems, and our responsibility in a system.

MATH
We worked with the number 10 for the tenth day of school. We are noticing and using numbers in our world.

LITERACY
We are learning how to read privately and with a partner. We are reading Learn-About-the-World books. We are learning about why writers write.
